With the X-games around the corner I can see why this video is just being released. Garrett Reynolds is 1 of the top BMX riders out right now and Nike hooked him up with this fly ass commercial with the RZA.

I have seen many car videos and have produced some myself but I have never seen something so thought out like this. I’ve been following Format67 on vimeo and have been in love with the style they produce and this video is by far the best work I have seem from them. The video has everything you could imagine cars, climax, and an actual story you seem to follow. Check out the video after the break.

Possibly 1 of the funniest parodies I have seen in awhile.

I shot a music video for the first time this past weekend and it is a bit challenging as a 1 man operation but thankfully my nephew was able to assist me. We shot the video in Downtown LA next to the 6th street bridge where many movies, tv shows, and music videos have been shot. Here are a few stills from the shoot.

Lately I have been looking at my Canon “L” lenses and a bit bored with the matte black so I decided to take it to another level. I purchased a 12″x12″ carbon fiber vinyl on ebay for $10 and I received it in 2 days since I am local to the wholesaler. The process wasn’t very hard but it wasnt easy.
First, you take your CF vinyl and measure it up to the lens hood to see how much needs to be cut.

I had to cut the pieces in half to get everything to fit correctly


Once you place the vinyl on the lens hood do not place it fully on so you can heat it up and stretch everything accordingly. The best advice I can give on getting the bubbles out is use a squeegee and pull the vinyl tight. Once you are done it should look very similar to this

Rhys Millen a well known rally driver and drifter attempted to break his dads record at the well known Pikes Peak in Colorado. As much as I am a fan of motorsports I am a huge fan on the Canon 5D MKII and the 5D was used in Rhys’s attempt. I give it a few more months that more people in the industry catch on to the capabilities of the 5D and I think we will see more work being shot with it.

Since I have been getting into video I have been collecting alot more equipment and no way to carry it efficiently so I took measures. I went on ebay and found this Pelican 1560 case with foam inserts to carry about my Jag35 Shoulder rig and also the Secondary Cage. I ordered the case on thursday and it showed up at my doorstep a day later with ground shipping. Once I received it I immediately starting taking out the foam inserts to accommodate all of my shoulder rig gear and accessories. Everything took about an hour to configure and makes things alot simpler to carry and transport around especially since it has wheels. Here are some before and after pictures of the setup.

Affion Crockett is a So Cal comedian who was on the MTV hit show Wild’n Out hosted by Nick Cannon. Since the show has gone off the air Affion has been doing sketch hip hop comedy on youtube and making a bigger name for himself.
Douche It is a parody on Chris Browns new hit song “Deuces” and takes it to a new level. Here is Affions video and below you will see Chris Browns original version.

Alex Wong a ballet dancer does a hip hop routine and makes it look effortless. I commend him for being such a good hip hop dancer even tho he has never had formal training.

I’ve been searching high and low for a shoulder rig to accommodate both my 7D and 5D MK II and all of the solutions were pretty expensive. I randomly found out about Jag35 a company that is dedicated to the budget cinematographer. After waiting for only 2 weeks on pre-order the rig came in and I couldn’t be happier. Originally all of the rods are Zacuto Rods in silver but I needed a little more room because of the follow focus so I used my rods from my other Jag35 cage.

I’ve been following the NBA Playoffs and I have seen some of the best commercials being player. Today I saw the Eminem “Recovery” Shamwow commercial and I just thought it was 1 of the most clever commercials. You can check it out here and also you have to listen to the album it’s possibly some of Eminem’s best work.

My Canon 5D MKII is really on is way up to video professionalism.

I got the LCD viewfinder offically on and I just received the Juicedlink pre-amp/mixer and now awaiting my Red Rock Micro rig. I had to order the pre-amp because I just have been doing so much reading and people say there is alot of sound flaws with the 5D, so I thought I would address it before it became a problem.
